Compiled for your convenience, included is an entire unit for teaching multiply decimals in fifth grade math. We want our students to have extra practice on the lessons we teach in class, so we designed the homework to fit that description. The homework only includes six problems a day. Three problems go over what was learned in class that day and three problems are a spiral review. The pages are designed for easy copying and give the students one half sheet of paper for their homework. We call homework independent practice to emphasize that the work can be done anywhere. On the bus, in the car, at a soccer game, etc.
The answers for the problems are written upside-down on the bottom of the paper. Students will receive immediate and constructive feedback on their work.
Also included are two quizzes to act as formative assessment throughout the unit and one unit test along with keys for both of these. The quizzes have two different formats: one multiple choice quiz and one free response quiz that allow you to choose which type fits your class the best.
Check out this fun modeling multiplying decimals banner activity that I created for this unit. It is a fun addition to the day in which you teach modeling how to multiply decimals.
