Help your students master using partial products when multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 digit. Great for end of third grade or fourth grade. Make the leap to standard algorithm easier with this strategy. Just about - no prep! Print the sheets out (make as many copies of the blank templates as you need / want) and put them in clear sheet protectors or laminate for a write-on/wipe-off center available whenever you need it! Ready to go!!
Roll it – Multiply it is a fun easy way to practice the Partial Products strategy of 2 digit by one digit multiplication. This can be done as an independent center, group work, partner work, etc.
1. Have students roll one die three times (once for each factor) to fill in the initial multiplication problem.
2. Using the partial products method have them solve.
GREAT FOR STUGGLING LEARNERS / DIFFERENTIATION-- For those that struggle or are new to this method, I have included a color-coded template with a color coded anchor chart for support making this center activity truly student supported for independence.
