PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Puzzles like those pictured on the cover page provide systematic, challenging, and intriguing practice for students working on multiplication and division.

Eleven pages of uncompleted multiplication grid puzzles. Students use logic and knowledge of multiplication to complete the grids. These are all “missing factor” problems, which can most easily be solved by dividing. They range from easy and obvious to some grids which will challenge even students who have thoroughly mastered basic multiplication and division.

Each grid is accompanied by a list of the factors that make up the products within it. Some grids focus on a few factors – there are several pages of factors only 2 through 5 and 10. Others are heavy on the “hard ones” – 6s, 7s, and 8s.

3.OA.4: “Determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation relating three whole numbers.”

3.OA.6: “Understand division as an unknown-factor problem.”

4.OA.4: “Find all factor pairs for a whole number in the range 1-100.”
