Description

This multiplying fractions activity has you covered with both print and digital versions.

  • Students answer 15 or 20 fraction multiplication problems, find the solution numbers on the coloring page/section, and color with the colors indicated.

Check out the Preview above to see what's included and to see a demo of the digital version.

Problems require students to:

  • Multiply fractions by fractions
  • Multiply fractions by whole numbers

In this easy-prep resource for multiplying fractions, you get:

1) 2 print versions

  • Print Version A
    • Problem sheet with 20 questions
    • Coloring sheet

  • Print Version B
    • Problem sheet with 15 questions (less challenging than Version A)
    • Coloring sheet (different color scheme from Version A)

2) One Google Slides version

  • Same problems and mostly same coloring as print version A
  • Students type their answers in the answer box
  • Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.
  • If you aren't using Google Slides, you can download the Slides as a PowerPoint and use in the same way as Slides.

3) A coloring page with no numbers, so students can color the pattern their own way, for fun:-)

Interpret the product (𝘢/𝘣) × 𝘲 as a parts of a partition of 𝘲 into 𝘣 equal parts; equivalently, as the result of a sequence of operations 𝘢 × 𝘲 ÷ 𝘣. For example, use a visual fraction model to show (2/3) × 4 = 8/3, and create a story context for this equation. Do the same with (2/3) × (4/5) = 8/15. (In general, (𝘢/𝘣) × (𝘤/𝘥) = 𝘢𝘤/𝘣𝘥.)
