Students will read a fictitious (but realistic) article about a championship basketball game. They will use the information in the article to choose an MVP from three hypothetical players. In order to do this, students will have to multiply fractions by whole numbers in order to find the fraction of a set. Students will fill out a table to reflect the points, rebounds, and assists for each of the three players, and they will also have to determine the game's final score. None of these values are explicitly stated in the article--the kids have to figure them out using problem-solving skills as well as their knowledge of multiplying fractions by whole numbers.
