This lesson introduces multiplying fractions and mixed numbers using both a visual and a mathematical approach.
It will help students to see how to sketch a visual model to find their product and verify that model with the algorithm for both multiplying fractions.
The PPT is designed to be used to introduce the topic or at the end of a unit to summarize the concepts. Ideally, the teacher can display the PPT for the students and they can take notes, have a class discussion, or both. Slides can be printed for students to put into interactive notebooks as well.
Additionally, this file can be uploaded to Google Classroom as a Google Slides document and viewed on "Present" mode if you would like students to use this individually or even at home for front-loading or summarizing a lesson.
The 8 slides are designed to present the information a bit at a time. They are not 8 unique slides, but rather use animation to add information a piece at a time so that teachers can present the information without overwhelming the students with too much, too quickly.
