This puzzle is a great activity to reinforce skills of solving equations with combining like terms and distributive property. It has a component of self-check built into the activity where if the puzzle does not connect. This could be used as a math station activity or a classroom lesson activity.
Directions for use:
Cut the shapes out. Hand them to students in groups of 6 puzzle pieces accompanied by a sheet with the equations on it. Students may use the sheet with the equations on it to solve the problems, and then put the puzzle together according to the answers they find. If the pieces do not fit together or they cannot find their answer on the puzzle pieces, they should check the problem.
