I use this packet to work with children that either struggle in the production of multisyllabic words or need phonological awareness help involving the skill of syllabification.
It includes 24, 3 and 4 syllable words used in a variety of activities. There are worksheets that break down the syllabification and provide visual support for the students. They can also sort the words by number of syllables in a cut and glue activity. A third activity allows children to circle the correct number of syllables in each word to address the same skill in a worksheet style manner. The packet also includes game boards. The students can roll dice and syllabify the word on each space as they move on the game board. After the students understand how to identify the number of syllables, they can use the next worksheet to choose the correct syllabification of the word. The sixth and final activity includes a picture representing each word divided into sections for each syllable. I use these as flashcards. The child can say the word while tapping on each section. You can also write the syllables in each section to work on the syllabification skill. Another way to use them is to cut the picture apart and give the student a section as they say each syllable until they complete the picture.
