Syllable reduction often decreases a child’s speech intelligibility.
This activity can be used for children with apraxia, phonological process disorders or simply children who are working on articulations.
This material contains 2,3, and 4-syllable words (12 each). The words with multi-syllables on the page are divided by syllables with syllable/pacing dots below each syllable. The pacing dots are helpful visual cues in getting clients to slow down and segment the word into syllables. You may have the children touch or color the syllable dots while they are producing the words and then fade to independent productions later on. Be creative!
Have fun using this material!
