This lesson allows for cooperative learning groups, interactive computer activities and individual writing activities. It allows students to really think about each step of the mummification process and why certain tools were used and why certain steps were taken.
Page 1- K-W-L for students to brainstorm what they know and what they want to know about the mummification process. We used a brainpop video to give a brief introduction about the mummification process after discussing what the students know and what they want to know.
Page 2- Students will work in cooperative learning groups using http://discoverykids.com/games/mummy-maker/ to see if they can be successful with the mummification process. During the interactive process, students will complete the discussion questions about the mummification process. This worked well with heterogenous groups with both ENL and Special Education students. This part did take part of two class periods to finish.
Page 3- Students will complete an individual writing activity.
