It will take about 3 weeks for the students to complete this worksheet (depending on the student and how you use it).
This unit is for the novel Murder in Four Parts, a Dan Rhodes Mystery by Bill Crider. A great murder mystery, students can answer the questions in chronological order as the book is read.
I would recommend that you buy a hard cover copy of the book from Amazon (they cost one penny plus $4 shipping!) - this is a great way to give a student who needs a little extra credit (maybe they need just a few more points to get that D, C, B, or A). Give them the book and this 287 question worksheet and watch them succeed! Great for summer school projects, great for Spring Break or Christmas Break extended lessons. Best of all, once you own the book and my lesson, you own it for life! (Just make sure the student returns your book when they are done)
As a public school English teacher, the biggest challenge I have is getting students to read in class or at home. Put a book or short story in front of them, they'll look at it for a few seconds and start day dreaming...
Until I stumbled upon something magnificent. Teenagers like accomplishment. These worksheets ask questions while the reader reads. Every couple of sentences, there's another question in true or false, fill in the blank, define, multiple choice formats. As the student reads, boom, another question. They answer it and continue reading. Before you know it, they have finished reading the book / story and completed all questions for further lessons/discussions.
These worksheets are great for daily lessons, test/quiz grades, extra credit, homework, group work (in pairs of two), substitute teacher lessons, emergency lesson plans, great for ESOL or however you can imagine.
