UPDATE: The product has been updated to include a 5-page reading passage all about the muscles. I have also modified the rest of the pages to include more information, so you don't need classroom resources to complete the activities.
A complete independent lesson on the muscular system. Students learn about some of the major muscles in the body, label muscle diagrams, learn about the three types of muscles (skeletal, cardiac and smooth), and all the basic stuff you need to know about the muscular system.
This lesson is geared towards middle school students, but could be helpful for students in high school as well.
In my opinion, the best part of this lesson is the checklist that allows students to methodically move through the lesson without getting lost on what to do next.
I have used this set two different ways. First, I laminate several copies and keep them in separate envelopes along with the consumables the students will need to complete the lesson. This way I can reuse the pages many times and students can check off their progress using an overhead pen. When they are done, they wipe off the checklist and return the set. Second, I print out the pages as a booklet on 11 x 17 paper. Then, each student has a complete set of everything they need. It gives students independence and allows me to differentiate by giving students different pages based on their needs.
This is great as a part of a unit on the human body or systems in science.
