Music Center Starter - Many Meals Rhythm Race

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack! Take one card at a time, read the rhythm, and then clap it too. After that you have to find some more food and do the same thing adding one new item at a time. Once you’ve reached 8 piece of food move on to a new meal. Can you finish each meal before time runs out?

For this center/activity just print off the flash cards that you want to use, laminate, and cut apart (there are several different levels of rhythmic difficulty). You may want to bag up/separate each “meal” so that you have different cards for breakfast, lunch, supper, and snack. Then have students arrange them to create their own rhythms! Print off the instruction page to give students more instructions.

*147 food-themed images with rhythmic patterns. Rhythms range from easier rhythms with quarter note, quarter rest, and eight note to half notes, and sixteenth note pairings.

*4 different meal times and food types with specific foods for breakfast, lunch, supper, and snack time.

*Use as individual activities, small group learning, in learning centers, or leave for a substitute teacher.
