Raise the stakes and get ready for a world premiere music performance of a composition by one of your students! This music project will have students using basic music theory, rhythms, and note writing skills. Students will write lyrics, form the rhythm, and create a melody for their song. When the songs are finished, students will learn them and then select their favorites which you can perform at a concert. Parents will love it and so will students.
You DO NOT need a piano lab or computer. I did this with 10 one octave bell sets. Students were given their allotted time with the bells to compose and they got it done.
We premiered three of the best songs, selected by their peers, and I played basic chords with it at our winter concert. Students will treasure this composition activity.
