So you want to get our students to write a music composition. Well, that is not always the easiest thing to do. Where to begin?
This can always be a daunting question. The most obvious place to begin is with the genre that you plan to compose in. Perhaps you have a topic that the students are studying, well this booklet can slot right into it. This booklet is divided into many sections. This is where all things related to the genre are going to be stored and this is where you are going to develop your composition. Each section has a number of entries. This means that there are that many copies of that profile sheet. If more copies are needed, then simply photocopy and insert. The different sections are:
MUSICAL SCORES AND NOTATION
BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND RESEARCH
CLASS AND INDIVIDUAL LISTENING TASKS
COMPOSITIONAL TECHNIQUES SPECIFIC TO STYLE
CLASS COMPOSITION TASKS
FEEDBACK AND REFLECTION
This is perfect to fit in with an existing topic, or can be taught as a stand alone task.
