Do your beginning band students have a hard time following the director? Help them understand the purpose of the conductor and what all of those hand motions mean with these helpful worksheets! Step by step instructions are included for 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4 time signatures. Students learn best with hands on activities where they can demonstrate and interact with others. This worksheet packet breaks down the conducting patterns in easy-to-follow steps and also provides music so part of the class can play along while others practice their conducting skills.
This packet contains worksheets and music examples for full band (Concert B flat) and would be particularly helpful in a beginning or intermediate band class setting.
12 PDF pages of worksheets (2 pages for every time signature)
• Alto Saxophone
• Tenor Saxophone/Baritone T.C.
• French Horn
Ways to use this product:
• Have half of the students conduct while the other half play. Or, have students take turns being the conductor!
• Add an additional listening activity and do a more in-depth study of the classical tunes featured on each worksheet. Links to video/audio of the songs are included!
• Include these worksheets in your warmup activities
• Have the students think of other songs they may know for each time signature. Then, look the songs up online and have them conduct to the music.
• Challenge the students by having them find songs with pick-up notes and conduct those as well.
