WHAT IS INCLUDED:
PowerPoint Presentation of "Let's Practice Our Musical Symbols"

This is a lesson plan that your students will fall in love with! You students have been anxiously waiting in line for their tour of the African Safari. Al Gata will take them on a tour which will introduce or review the Musical Symbols. Students have to find the treasure hidden behind different groups of animals, and name what the musical symbol is inside the chest when the find it. The Musical Symbols covered in this lesson plan are Piano, Forte, Fermata, Staccato, Marcato, Breath Mark, Crescendo, Decrescendo, Repeat Sign, Sharp Sign, Flat Sign, Treble Clef, Bass Clef, Rest, and the Staff.

This is a GREAT lesson plan for students to see visually what the Musical Symbols are as they are forced to actively look for them. Multiple visual aids, and analogies are demonstrated in this Slide Show to guarantee a complete and full understanding of what the musical symbols mean, and what they do. But more importantly this will also guarantee your students will be able to identify The Musical Symbols when engaging in their other listening activities.

Phase 1.Students will be told what the musical symbol they will be looking for does. (What we do when we see it in music)

Phase 2.Students will see a landscape full of animals, and like the game "I Spy" they will try and spot the hidden treasure chest.

Phase 3. Students are called up to the smart board to point and find the hidden treasure chest.

Phase 4. When a student finds the chest, the chest opens and students are asked what the musical symbol is called. If a student answers correctly, he/she can be first to approach the smart-board to look for the next treasure chest.

Enjoy!
