Getting students to listen to Classical music can be a challenge-- or not! Classical music can be fun and exciting for your students!
This lesson is based on the German lieder (AKA song) Im Herbst by Robert Franz. You can listen to it here. Im Herbst means "in Autumn", so if you are looking for a Fall music lesson that is not Vivaldi, you have come to the right place! This piece is very dramatic and moody, so I like to use it to teach tone color.
This lesson includes a lesson plan with step by step directions for how to do the lesson (includes movement scarves, if you want to go that route!), as well as 5 music listening worksheets that focus on tone color, creative writing, and more! This lesson can easily be done with a substitute, as all they would need is the music and the worksheets!
