Do you need a quick and easy activity to ease your way back into school after winter break? This adorable mug of hot chocolate is the perfect way to start the New Year in music class! This product is not only a fun way for students to practice their rhythmic values, it is also a cross-curricular activity to incorporate math and art into the music classroom. These work great as a whole-class activity, a "finished early" worksheet, and in centers and stations. And what's more? It's so easy, even a non-music sub would be able to do this with ease!
This product is a FREE SAMPLE of my line of Music + Math rhythm coloring pages. While this sample only includes one coloring image, the larger packs each include six different images. This sample does offer the four different options for differentiation, similar to what you'd find in the full packs.
Check out this adorable coloring page. It features a color by code image for students to fill in. Within each space in the image is a rhythm addition problem. Students must solve the math problem to figure out what color to use in that space. Rhythms are all in standard notation, and include a pair of eighth notes, quarter note, half note, dotted half note, whole note, quarter rest, half rest, and whole rest. Images include Emojis of a Smiley Face, Heart Eyes, Money Eyes, Laughing Tears, Sunglasses, and the every popular Poop!
Need to differentiate? No problem! I've supplied four versions of the coloring page. One has a key at the top for students to use that reminds them how many beats each symbol gets. The next leaves the chart blank for the students to fill in on their own. Then there are versions of both of those options that allow students to choose their own colors for the background, leaving more room for creativity (and making it more difficult for students to copy off each others' work).
Please Note: There is one coloring image, but it is supplied in many options so you can choose what works best for you. You will receive 8 pages total, but THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT VARIATIONS OR FILE TYPES OF THE IMAGE SHOWN IN THE PREVIEW.
Printing Tips: I've included two file options- .jpg and .pdf. Please use whichever works best for you. These sheets are designed for printers that require .25" margins. If your printer needs a larger margin, please select "Scale to Fit" when printing to avoid cutting anything off.
