***Creative Lesson Idea***
These flashcards help make lots of different lessons even better!
The creation component of a lesson is so important. Use these quarter note and eighth note combination flashcards to have students compose a B section to any song with a fruit or pie theme. I love using these for Simple Simon, but they could also be used for the poem Peanut Butter Pie or Little Jack Horner.
1. Print all four sheets, cut them out, and laminate them for multiple use. There are 16 different flashcards (each flashcard is a pie ingredient - blueberry, strawberry, or pecan). Print off multiple sets so that your class can be divided into groups of four or five, each group with their own set of flashcards.
2. After students have internalized Simple Simon, have them create an 8 beat pattern (4 cards) using the pie ingredient flashcards. This allows students to compose without the use of pencil and paper, giving opportunity to perform rhythms that are found in the song.
3. Perform in AB form: A: Song B: Group 1 recites their pattern A: Song B: Group 2 recites their pattern, etc.
