Product Description
I was looking for a way to reinforce vocabulary that I use in my classroom constantly. My middle school students struggle a lot with academic and content vocabulary and the one element of music I have not been able to get them to master is speaking and writing about music using the proper vocabulary.

A few teachers in my school use a game like this to teach sight words and other vocabulary and I decided to make my own version for music

The game is simple: the teacher reads the definition of a word or name of the symbol (depending on the version you are using) and in teams students compete with another team. Students slap the card that they think is correct. The team that slaps the correct card gets to keep it. The team with the most cards at the end is the winner.

It has turned out to be a good concentration game for my students and a good way to have some controlled kinesthetic learning happening in my classroom. My students also thought these would make good flashcards so I made a set for my students who finish early to review. They also asked if they could use them as a sorting activity to match the word with the definition...I had never though of that until they mentioned it!!

This game includes two sets of cards. One with vocabulary words and definitions, the other with musical symbols and the names of those symbols. Hopefully I formatted everything correctly so the cards can be printed front and back for flashcards or just print them one sided to use for sorting and for the actual game.

If you have any other suggestions for vocabulary or symbols that should be included please leave me some feedback and I'd be happy to add them on!
