Looking for a quick, fun, icebreaker? In this activity, students stand in a circle and throw a beach ball (covered in numbers) to another student. That student reads the question associated with the number that their right hand thumb lands on. Two types of questions are included, verbal ones and active ones.
Students will get to know the musical tastes of their classmates in a fun way, while establishing a culture of safety, honesty, and mutual trust. This activity is a musical take on the one found in the "AVID Elementary Foundations" book.
As a music teacher in an AVID school, it has been challenging to incorporate AVID into my lessons. This is one way in which I was able to take an AVID activity and apply it to music!
