This is a basic scope and sequence I designed while writing my curriculum for a high school music theory course. It lists the macro concepts which I taught, in order. Because music literacy builds from one concept to the next (much like learning to read, or any language for that matter), I tweaked this design throughout my years of teaching the course in order to make it as efficient and logical as possible.
The concepts at the end of the page which are struck out were optional materials I would teach at the end of the year if time allowed. I considered them secondary priority to the other things on the list.
