Unit 3: Music Composition & Roman Numeral Studies
The final unit included in this bundle is Music Composition Curriculum, and is everything you need to get your students learning how to compose chord progressions & appropriate voicings! This curriculum includes lessons that teach students the roman numerals, first inversions, second inversions, chord identification, & more! There are 18 lessons total that introduce students to all fundamental concepts in music composition in the key of C Major, G Major, and F Major. There are 18 different 7-8 page student packets for each lesson included! Packets include activities such as chord building, chord identification, roman numeral studies, composition activities that go along directly with the PowerPoint Lessons.
Treble & Bass clef notation activities are included as a supplemental resource for any students that need review of reading clef notation. Treble & Bass Clef Notation activities include C major, F major, and G major key signatures. Blank Staff notation paper in the key of C, F & G is also included as a supplemental resource for you to utilize in any way you see best fit.

In each unit students begin by being introduced to I, IV & V chords. Students learn to identify, compose, and build I IV & V chords. Students then identify, compose & build 1st, and 2nd inversions of I IV & V chords. Following a thorough understanding of I, IV & V chords, students are then introduced to ii, iii & vi chords in the same sequencing. Students explore 1st and 2nd inversions of ii, iii, & vi chords along with various combinations of chord progressions, and using appropriate voicing techniques.
Previous knowledge I recommend students have before purchasing:
Students should have a general understanding of music theory if they are to dive into this curriculum. Students should have a good understanding of intervals, triads, major chords, and minor chords. Most importantly, be sure your students are 100% comfortable with reading all notes in Treble & Bass Clef notation. This curriculum assumes students have this previous knowledge, and it does not teach these concepts as it is assumed they know.
Worksheets:
Each Lesson has a 1 or 2 page Worksheets to go along with. The Worksheets are Cognitively Demanding Tasks that are designed to Check for the Students Understanding. They are not the type of worksheets to print out, hand out, kill time, and throw in the trash.
