This set of 33 no-preparation music worksheets provide fun assessments for the melodic concept fa.

Notation is included for the following songs needed for this file:

2. Chairs to Mend
3. Cut the Cake
4. Kaeru No Uta

Worksheets included:

-Are You Sleeping? Cut and Paste the Song Together Worksheet: Students will cut out 8-beat staff patterns and paste them in the correct order for the song Are You Sleeping?.

-Are You Sleeping? Piece Together the Song Worksheet: Given several different 8-beat stick notation and solfege pattern choices, students will write the song in the correct order.

-Are You Sleeping? Melody Match-Up Worksheet: Students will connect each line of the song to the melodic pattern it matches. Two versions are provided: Staff Notation and Stick Notation with Solfège.

-Chairs to Mend My Version/Your Version Level 1 Worksheet: Students must copy the first phrase of Chairs to Mend in the music staff. Then, students must label the song with solfège. Some of the notes are provided to help the students with copying (great for differentiation).

-Chairs to Mend My Version/Your Version Level 2 Worksheet: Students must copy the first phrase of Chairs to Mend in the music staff. Then, students must label the song with solfège. This worksheet is harder than level 1 because no extra notes are given to the students.

-Could it be s-f-m-r-d? Worksheet: Students must recognize the distance between melodic pitches. Their job is to find and circle any pattern that says so-fa-mi-re-do.

-Cut the Cake Add the Solfa Level 1 Worksheet: Students are shown the song Cut the Cake in the music staff. Their job is to label the song with the correct solfège. Some of the pitches are given to the students in this version (perfect for differentiation).

-Cut the Cake Add the Solfa Level 2 Worksheet: Students are shown the song Cut the Cake in the music staff. Their job is to label the song with the correct solfège. No extra pitches are given to the students, making this version harder than level 1.

-Fa Composition Worksheet: Students will compose an 8-beat melody. First they will write this in stick notation with solfège underneath. Then, they will transfer it to the music staff.

-Fa Composition Worksheet {Rhythm Provided}: Students will compose an 8-beat melody to a given rhythm. Then, they will transfer it to the music staff.

-Fa Missing Melody Worksheet: The Fa Bandit has stolen all of the fa notes! In this worksheet, students must add the fa notes back into the music staff.

-Fa Self-Assessment Worksheet (smiley face): Students assess their own ability to read, identify, write, and perform patterns with fa by coloring in the appropriate smiley faces.

-Fa Self-Assessment Worksheet (text): Students assess their own ability to read, identify, write, and perform patterns with fa by checking the appropriate text boxes.

-Fa Staff Notation Song Match Worksheet: Students will draw a line from each pattern in the staff to the song title it matches (2 versions of staff patterns are provided: one showing rhythm with the notes in the staff and one without rhythm).

-Fa Staff Notation Song Match Worksheet (do-clef): Students will draw a line from each pattern in the staff to the song title it matches. A do-clef is used in this version and students must figure out the first pitch. (2 versions of staff patterns are provided: one showing rhythm with the notes in the staff and one without rhythm).

-Fa Stick and Staff Match-Up Worksheet: Students will draw a line from patterns in the staff to their stick notation match. (2 versions are provided: one uses a do-clef and one shows the first pitch in the staff)

-Fa Stick Notation Song Match Worksheet: Students will draw a line from each stick notation pattern with solfège to the song title it matches.

-Fa Trace Worksheet: Students will trace and color fa patterns in the music staff. Students will recognize the distance between each of the pitches.--F and G do versions included

-On the Mountain Transfer from Stick-to-Staff Level 2 Worksheet: Students will transfer the first half of On the Mountain from stick notation with solfège underneath to staff notation. This worksheet is harder than the level 1 version because no extra notes are given to the students.

-Skipping Rope Song Add the Solfa Level 1 Worksheet: Students are shown the Skipping Rope Song in the music staff. Their job is to label the song with the correct solfège. Some of the pitches are given to the students in this version (perfect for differentiation).

-Skipping Rope Song Add the Solfa Level 2 Worksheet: Students are shown the Skipping Rope Song in the music staff. Their job is to label the song with the correct solfège. No extra pitches are given to the students, making this version harder than level 1.

-Staff Notation Which One Do You Hear? Worksheet: Students will listen to a pattern performed by the teacher and circle the correct pattern in the music staff. (2 versions are provided: one uses a do-clef and one shows the first pitch in the staff)

-Stick Notation Which One Do You Hear? Worksheet: Students will listen to a pattern performed by the teacher and circle the correct pattern with stick notation and solfège.

-The Goose Round Trace and Write Worksheet: Students must trace and color in the notes for The Goose Round. Then, students must write the song in the music staff with no trace lines provided.
