Effective for upper elementary or middle school chorus
♪ Word rhythms is a concept every singer needs to grasp.
♪ As a warm-up activity, try clapping some rhythms to well known tunes like "Mary Had a Little Lamb," and have them guess what song it is. Explain that the words to every song have an exact rhythm.
♪ This chorus worksheet will help your students to put the two together.
♪ Make sure they understand exactly where to write the lyrics, and that the syllables are to be written directly under the note they go with.
♪ Introduce or review the use of hypens.
♪ Help your students with the front page, and see if they can manage the back page on their own.
♪ Clapping the rhythms and using tah and ti ti rhythm syllables will be VERY HELPFUL in this process.
♪ Answer key included.
