Product Description
This short unit is based on the following essential questions: How did music play a part in the underground railroad? How did slaves express forbidden feelings and desires, such as anger, resentment, or a longing for freedom?
It was taught as a collaboration between a music teacher and 3rd grade teacher as an attempt to integrate the arts into the regular classroom after the underground railroad was explored through a guided reading unit. Many of the resources mentioned are available on the internet.
