This compilation of musical pieces is meant to allow children to begin reading musical notation at a young age. These pieces are best expressed on colourful chime bells, boomwhackers or colour bells.
In our music classes, we use real xylophones with our Grade 2 students. Each key is marked with a colourful sticker (not sure who sells them). You could do the same with many instruments - you may print your own colourful notes and tape them on an instrument or buy stickers.
Laminate the pieces for long term use and allow the children to choose the pieces they are comfortable with and set goals to move to a higher piece later. You may send the file home for extra practice/play. You may also number them via levels of difficulty: Low/Average/High. Feel free to display on the Smartboard and play as a team. My students do an "Independent Xylophone Study", they can choose any piece they wish, make sure you have them write down which piece they choose, because they won't remember. That way they practice commitment and responsibility to making one piece ready, before moving on to the next one.
