Do you have barred instruments in your classroom? Are you looking for a fun, yet challenging song for your 5th - 8th graders? Written for four different parts "Shades of Spaghetti" will be a hit in the classroom and also in a performance setting!
If your students can learn patterns, they will be able to play this! However, it's not an easy piece. This 26 measure instrumental arrangement will take time and effort. For less experienced students, part four should be attainable. Keep in mind that you don't need to include all four parts in order for the song to be successful.
"Shades of Spaghetti" will sound great no matter what selection of barred instruments you have in your room! Written in the key of E minor, three parts will require an F#. A cross- over technique and a rolling technique is also needed in some instances.
Assessment is very possible with this piece. (Core Standard #5 and #6, taken from NAFME, http://www.nafme.org/ - click on *My Classroom* and then click on *Standards*). You will also be able to assess your students’ ability to read a score.
The zip file contains a full score, complete with all four parts, as well as individual scores for each part! Also included are instructions for teaching the piece, and an mp3 recording of the song itself.
