Students are exposed to four different genres which include Country, Rock, Hip-Hop, and Reggae.
First students will listen to some Hip-Hop Music and color a puzzle piece according to the colors they see when they listen to Hip-Hop.
Second students will listen to some Country Music and color the next puzzle piece according to the colors they see when listening to Country.
The same process continues on for Rock, and then Reggae music.
After Students have colored their puzzle pieces for each genre, they will begin cutting them out, and then assembling all their puzzle pieces together according to the genre. All Hip-Hop colored puzzle pieces are put together, Rock puzzle pieces are put together, Country and Reggae as well.
This is a great activity for kids to see the similarities we all have in associating color with music! You might be surprised as to how sound inspires similar colors, designs and pictures! Very fun activity, and a great idea for evidence is to glue the puzzle pieces on four poster boards (Color of Rock Poster, Color of Country Poster) and hang them up outside.
