Section 1. - Hip-Hop History
Students will be introduced to a mild history of Hip Hop music from Jamaica to America, and then will put Hip Hop on trial whether or not it has now become a negative or positive influence on society. Once the Fresh Prince theme song comes on, you should have every student engaged at this point. ;)
NOTE: In order for the videos to work in this lesson plan, you must have internet!

Section 2. - Court Trial Preparation
Students then are to brainstorm their ideas, arguments, and evidence prior to the actual trial which may be during your next class depending on your time constraints. If you do not have time, do the actual debate/court trial next class so students can be fully prepared.

Section 3. Court Trial
The slides give the class a smooth transition during the court trial. The slides guide each side during the court trial through their opening statements, presentation of evidence, and closing arguments. The following class the court trial could occur depending on time.
The court trial is structured based off the following:

1. Pro Hip-Hop Opening Statement

2. Pro Hip-Hop Evidence

3. Against Hip-Hop Opening Statement

4. Against Hip-Hop Evidence

5. Both sides engage in discussion
