Section 1.
Students will begin by taking a deep look into the Elements of rap such as Figurative Language, Rhythm, Flow, and Structure. After students have a better understanding of these elements, they are taken through a step by step process in the following sections of the lesson plan.

Section 2.
Students are then introduced to the most common structure of a rap. Students are shown a quick video that explains what a Verse, Chorus, and a Bridge is, and then a five minute time limit two write one. If you would like to give your students more time, especially for a verse which is typically long.

Students engage in writing a rap in the following sections:
Verse 1. (16 Lines)
Verse 2. (16 Lines)
Verse 3. (16 Lines)
Bridge (2 Lines)
Chorus (2 Lines)

Section 3.
Students then engage in an activity where they will recite/share their raps with a partner. If they choose to share with the whole class they may do so for extra credit. There is music automatically inserted in the last slide with a catchy beat for students to rap to. Encourage them to use Figurative Language when writing. Also encourage them to be keeping Rhythm, and Flow in mind while writing or reciting to their fellow classmates.
