Students will be taken through a series of two scenes from a movie. Each scene is played multiple times but with different music. This Shows kids that music can change the entire meaning of a film!

The first movie scene portrays Bill Murray walking behind somebody. Each time the scene is played with different music, the students will discuss what the intentions are of Bill Murray. It is amazing how scary of a person Bill Murray can be when music deceives us. The music changes who the character is, and leads us to assign different characteristics to Bill Murray.

The second movie scene is of Jack Sparrow approaching land on his boat. As the same scene is played multiple times for the students, the music changes where the setting of the movie is, and leads us to assign different characteristics to this island he is approaching.

This lesson plan is extremely interesting, and definitely should get 100% of your class engaged without a doubt. This is great for creating discussions and getting some kids out of their bubbles.

You can branch this lesson plan out in your own direction in countless ways after you have already presented it to your class. Either have the students create their own skit and choose 3 different soundtracks as they present the same skit 3 times, or countless other possibilities. Have fun!
