Product Description
This lesson covers a brief history of the Great Depression and what happened to people’s lives from it. To introduce the topic the book The Babe and I by David A. Adler will be read, followed by a discussion of the Great Depression. It then goes into tying music into it by explaining how people expressed their feelings through the music that they created during this time. We will then listen to “Big Rock Candy Mountain”. The students will describe a few of the different elements of music in the song. They will also discuss as a class how music can communicate meaning and how they did on this song.
