This product includes instrument picture cut-outs and activities to play for reinforcing instrument groupings, both by family and by pitch (high, middle, low, and other or un-pitched). There are 29 different instruments included from all 4 families (string, brass, woodwind, and percussion). This could be used with a sub. The activities can be done individually or in groups. Here are some highlights from the suggested use section:
- See how quickly each student or group can put the instruments in groups by high, middle, low, and other sounds, and then by family.
- Next, put all the cut-outs in a bag or hat. Allow each student to pick one. Pull up the “high/middle/low/other” slides and have students move to the location around the room that corresponds with the instrument they picked.
- Make sure each student/group has a full set of instrument cut-outs. Play an instrument sound (suggested website included). Have students/groups hold up the picture that corresponds with the sound you played.
- I added a recommended answer key at the end for “high, middle, low, and other”.
