Musical Thrones is a super fun way to practice producing rhyming words and it fits perfectly with your Kings and Queens Core Knowledge Unit, or any Medieval Times or Royalty unit. This game includes 30 thrones in color with pictures for rhyming and 30 in black line for those of you who don’t want to use colored ink.
Put the number of chairs in a circle, that match the number of students you have, with the thrones taped to the back of each chair. (Do not take one away, like with typical musical chairs) Play medieval music, or princess music while your students walk around the chairs. When the music stops, each student names a word that rhymes with the picture on the throne they are standing by. Provide scaffolding for kiddos who are still struggling with this concept. Start the music again, and continue to play like this for as many rounds as you would like.
