This resource would be great to use to help your students learn the names and the formation of the upper and lowercase letters as well as introduce them to beginning sounds in words. It could be used in multiple ways:
~1 book per student to practice with daily
~for small group instruction for student having difficulty with letter recognition
As has been stated many times in research, the stronger young students’ letter recognition skills are, the more likely they are to learn to read. By having the students trace over each letter (upper and lowercase) as they say the name of the letter and then saying the name of the picture, you are reinforcing and building the letter recognition skills.
For the purposes of this little booklet I focused on the short vowel sounds and the soft ‘c’ and ‘g’ sounds.
To get started simply copy as many booklets as you need, cut the pages apart on the dotted line, put them in order and away you go!!
The pictures match those used in my ‘Colorful Alphabet Poems’ package which can be found here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Colorful-Alphabet-Poems-lettersound-association-762829
