Product Description
This resource includes three (short) chapters from Willa Cather's My Antonia and a reading guide to go along with the chapters. By looking at these three chapters and discussing them, my students are able to gain some cultural literacy of this classic novel, without taking the class time needed to read the novel in its entirety. I use this as an activity during my Gilded Age unit, where students learn about the lives of immigrants at the turn of the century in America. The questions are aimed to guide students to in-depth discussion of the struggles immigrants faced, including nativist attitudes.

After reading and discussing My Antonia, students complete an activity with real-life accounts of immigrants using MadeintoAmerica.org, which you can find in my TpT store.
