It is the end of the school year. Are your students' work suffering as the summer months are approaching? Here is a tool that will get everyone keeping up their best work until the last day of school!
Children need reminders of what quality work looks like before they turn it in. This simple checklist provides a scaffold for metacognition. Checklists provide children with independence both at home and at school. Use this checklist to help your students ensure that they are doing their best work. Cut the paper in half and make a front-to-back list. Laminate the list and use a white board marker to check off each step for daily assignments. You may also choose to copy onto half sheets of paper and attach it to a major project, assignment, or test.
This checklist has made a huge difference for many of my students. I hope that it works for you as well! Best wishes!
