Looking for the perfect Christmas PROJECT BASED LEARNING activity with INTERGRATED TECHNOLOGY? This project based learning math activity is a great Christmas Shopping List Project-Based Math activity, students must go online to shop for three family members with a specific amount of money. They must determine how much money is in their budget using the attached planning sheet. They must take a break from shopping to buy lunch- to do this students will use the attach meal planning sheet to decide which restaurant in which they wish to eat and determine what they will purchase and find the total cost. After lunch, students will go shopping- after making a shopping list of course. Students will choose from two different online stores and "shop" for their family members. Students must be careful not to go over budget! Once the shopping is complete, students will write a persuasive letter to their parents explaining why they should be able to keep any remaining money. With this very in depth project-based, technology-based project, students must add, subtract, and divide to create and understand the budget. They will use the computer or other electronic device to research online prices of specific stores and restaurants. This project also includes a great deal of writing to help incorporate writing into the mathematics curriculum. This Christmas Math project is sure to get students thinking critically. This is always a lot of fun for my third grade students, but would be great for older students as well!
