What kid doesn't want to create their own dream room?! In this project, the students will reinforce their learning of area and perimeter by connecting it to a real-world example.
I have the project planned for three days, but it usually takes about a week as they add details to their rooms.
You'll need to assemble the book included in the download for them. In addition, you'll need to buy several medium-sized packing boxes. When cut, each box yields 8 "rooms" (the corners of the box). I also provide the flooring (usually carpeting) and fabric scraps for curtains. The kids are directed to bring in wrapping paper to use as wallpaper. Some of my students have even asked to bring in their own doll furniture!
Let me know if you need further instructions!
