Product Description
For students in Health, Earth Sciences, or even some Life skills classes, knowing a safety plan is in place helps prepare the student in case of an emergency. Learning about Earthquakes and other natural disasters is a part of the curriculum as is the appropriate response in case of an emergency.
This is a good activity for families to discuss where their after event meeting place is and people who might be good supports in case of an emergency. According to the American Red Cross and Ready.gov, all households should review emergency plans and have certain supplies available for up to a week. Especially for students with moderate to severe disabilities, when the family reviews the plans, students have the opportunity to look at the tools they may have (AAC, identification cards) and utilize them in the event of an emergency.
Materials: 1 copy of either a written short answer plan or a copy of the one where students choose the best answers per student
Teaching time: 10-50 minutes, not including family discussion time (highly suggested)
