Looking for more ways to encourage reading in your classroom? One of my favorite sayings is Reading is the Key to Success. These Book Award templates will provide you with an easy tool to promote the importance of reading...and encourage successful readers!
Three Book Awards are included, and can be used as an. on-going activity, on a monthly or marking period basis, or for special events like Dr. Seuss's birthday. Templates can be used for reading fiction, non-fiction, and online Newsela articles. I've also used them at the end of reading units as a culminating activity. Once completed, students can cut-out and decorate them. They are great displays for bulletin boards & hallways, in the classroom, media center, and library. Using these templates gives your students an opportunity to share and talk about what their favorite books are.
Keep out copies for an easy "go-to" for early finishers, and/or for interactive bulletin boards. When you have a few minutes to spare, allow students time to talk about their choices. This would be a perfect activity during morning meetings. My students loved sharing their favorites throughout the year, but the awards could also be used during special weeks like conferences - to show parents what their child is reading, or for Read Across America reading weeks.
