Product Description
This script was written for three students. The script was written for first grade students. It was designed as a center for the classroom. Almost all words are from the Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade Dolch sight word list. The words are listed on the first page and then the next pages are sight word practice This script and others in this series was designed for students from Kindergarten (half way through) to Second Grade. They will help students to master the Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade Dolch sight words! Each one was written for three students. They can be used as a center. All words used are listed on the first page and then the next few pages has sight word practice cards students can cut out and practice mastering for the first part of the week. (You don't have to use them unless you want.) And the last pages are the actual script. What is exciting about this script and others in the series is that all but one are short (double sided). At such a young age many students aren't ready for anything longer, especially in a center. You can choose to have students practice all the words or just the ones for their part. Once they have mastered most of the words students are ready for the script. I recommend that you make three copies of the script (one for each part) and highlight them ahead of time.

I wrote and designed these scripts because it is so challenging to find reader's theaters that are the right length for young students. Most scripts are much longer and students near first grade often do not have the experience or stamina to read a longer script without closer supervision. They will be more successful with a shorter script in their reading center.

The plot is as follows: #1 is trying to tell the story of Little Boy Blue but #2 and #3 keep asking questions. #2 and #3 want to know if the horn Little Boy Blue had was a car horn. #1 does not know. They each take turns writing a new end to the story.

Currently there are 10 of these scripts. I have two listed for $1 so you can get a good look at what I'm offering. You can buy the rest for $2 a piece or you can purchase all of them in a package for $12.

The scripts were written as easy, medium, and challenging with varying lengths so that students can build stamina. One thing you can do is have all students use the same script as they go through the center or assign a different script to each group.

I write these scripts for small groups to help with fluency. When the group is small, they don't waste time sitting around waiting for their turn and get more time actually practicing. Reader's Theater actually encourages students who are reluctant to read. It is a fun way to get people to practice. You will also notice most of my scripts, except the picture on the first page are in black and white. This makes it easier to print and photocopy without too much ink.
