This is an art-integration fractions activity designed for students beginning to learn about fractions. Students color a "quilt" using fraction requirements. The quilt has 36 squares and students have to color in 1/2 of them blue, 3/36 red, etc. This project requires higher order thinking for new fraction learners as they attempt to determine, "What is 1/2 of 36 squares?" This also allows for student choice and creativity when students choose what color to fill in for different fraction amounts.
