This is a social skills story for peers of students who use speech generating devices. It is designed to help peers understand why a student uses this type of communication device. It can be used for general education preschool and early elementary students to support inclusion, as well as students in special needs classrooms. Project it on the wall and read it as a group, load it onto iPads for individual reading, print if off and send it home to help parents of peers understand about speech generating devices. Use it as a model to make your own social story, including photos and student-specific preferences.
