This is a wonderful project to do anytime of the year! However, I especially love to get my students thinking about thankfulness just before Thanksgiving. This project works well during literacy centers, writing centers, small group instruction, or as a whole class project.
In this project, students will create a booklet where they design the front cover, brainstorm things they are thankful for (ideas are provided as well), generate a list of synonyms for thankful, and finally write and illustrate about all that they are thankful for.
The prep of this project was created to be minimal and step by step directions are included for both the teacher and the student.
Not only is this a special project both your students and their families will treasure, it is also common core aligned. On the back of the booklet I have included the standard the project covers. This makes it easy for you and your students to remain focused on the skill at hand even though the project will seem more like fun than work!
