Step 1: Students will bring in an object from home that represents something they like to do in their spare time. (I strayed away from books, movies, or video games because they make the activity difficult and somewhat droll.)
Step 2: Students will write adjectives and verbs about their object, as well as three other objects.
Step 3: After all of the trading and writing has taken place, small groups will work together to write a realistic story using all of the objects and 10 verbs/10 adjectives that the group came up with.
Step 4: Groups can share their story with the class.
