Product Description
My home and school were hit very hard by Hurricane Sandy. We have not even been able to get back to school yet. I just created this activity to do with my students when we return. I am going to ask students to write and draw about what they did before the storm, during the storm, and after the storm. Unfortunately, I know many students stayed in their homes during the storm and had major flooding. Most, including myself, are displaced and will not be moving back to their homes any time soon. It is going to be very difficult to return to school, and I think this journal and drawing assignment will help students reflect on their experiences. I also hope this activity will make it easier for students to share their stories. Before students begin the activity, I will probably model and share my own story with the class.
