Reinforce sight words, writing a summary, and problem/solution with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "My Kite" mini book practices the sight words where, will, my, it, up, go, now, over, and. The story features semi predictable text and follows a little girl as she flies her kite over different things at the park. The story ends with a problem, that students will solve in one of the response activities. I have included three response activities. First, students will think back to the text and complete a problem/solution flip chart graphic organizer. Students will write and draw the problem from the story and then write and draw their own solution. Upon completion students can share their writing with the group. Second, students will write and draw the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Last, students will follow a color by sight word code to color the little girl and her kite.
